Second announcement of scientific conference "90 years Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil, Bulgaria”

Dear Colleague,

Greetings from the Secretariat of the scientific conference with international participation "90 years Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil " on the theme: "Science and Agriculture: Global and Regional Challenges", in Kyustendil, Bulgaria on September 27-28, 2019.
We would like to kindly inform you that abstract submission deadline is extended up to July 15, 2019.

On 05 and 06.10.2012 it was held  the Festival of Fertility in the center of town Kyustendil. It is a legacy of the First National Horticultural contest -1896 and is a unique in the country. The Festival of fertility is held for two days, organized by the Municipality of Kyustendil and Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil, which present the abundance and fertility of Kyustendil region.

At the traditional festival with their own exhibition stands took part numerous community centers, organizations, farmers and craftsmen from the region of Kyustendil. A guest of the event was the main Scientific Secretary of SAA-Sofia prof. V. Bachvarov. The rich exhibition, arranged with beauty and aesthetics stands and good weather prompted many residents and guests to visit the festival.

Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil presented an exhibition of 123 apple cultivars and hybrids. Prof. Dimitar Domozetov made a brief description and demonstration of 10 new and perspective apple cultivars and hybrids from the platform in front of the municipality.

Тhere was a great interest to our exhibition and  presentation. The visitors asked questions about the new cultivars created in the Institute and for making the right technological decisions in apple growing.

The program of the festival included a number of interesting competitions for the larger fruit, the most attractive fruit, and the best arranged stands. Traditionally a committee Chairman is the director of the Institute Prof. D. Domozetov. The winners in the different competitions received cash prizes provided by the Municipality of Kyustendil.



Organization Structure of the Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil

    According to the Structural Regulations since 2008 the Institute of Agriculture has scientific staff consisting of 23 research associates who are classified in four departments: ‘Breeding, cultivar studies and reproduction of fruit trees’; ‘Agrotechnology, Physiology and Economics’; ‘Plant protection’ and   ‘Berry Breeding and Technologies’.
    The research program includes the implementation of twelve research projects and three contracts for bilateral scientific-technical collaboration. A bureau for extension services and marketing along with its available staff is established. A library and informative centre work. The total number of the budget employees is seventy.
    The Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil is accredited by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency, Sofia for training in educational and scientific and scientific degree “Doctor” in scientific specialities: 04.01.05 - Breeding and Seed production of cultivars and 04.01.15 - Fruit growing.

We would like to inform you about the extension of the deadline for applications until July 15 to participate in a scientific conference with international participation "90 Years Institute of Agriculture - Kyustendil, 2019" on "Science and Agriculture: Global and Regional Challenges"

    The Institute of Agriculture-Kyustendil is a structural link of the Agricultural Academy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and is a specialized departmental research institution for investigation of theoretical and practical problems in agriculture, introduction of Bulgarian and foreign achievements in this area, assistance to the growers for the development and prosperity of this branch. It is an assignee of the founded with Ordinance №2646/19.12.1929 of the Ministry of Agriculture and state properties, Fruit-growing Experimental Station, Kyustendil.
    After its foundation this scientific institution became not only the first practical, but also the first scientific fruit-growing center in our country. Here, down the ages prominent scientists worked at the domain of fruit-growing.
    Nowadays the researchers and specialists from the Institute of Agriculture aim to face all challenges set in front of the agricultural science and practice.
